Description:
Bartell Drugs needed a new app experience that empowered new and existing customers to control the prescription process.

Challenge:
Bartell’s used multiple systems that didn’t communicate with each other or allow for notification of the filling process.

Journey:
We started by researching how we could get the multiple systems Bartells used for customer records and the pharmacy filling process to work together. We made sure to pay close attention to HIPAA regulations and accessibility best practices. We paired our learnings with customer research to create a transparent flow that allows customers to see the status of their prescriptions. We also worked to make sure that the new system allows for parents and care providers to manage prescriptions for the people in their care. Customers can also request refills with a single tap and request Bartells to reach out to their doctor for medicines that don’t have a refill status.

We designed for native Android and iOS and also designed and built a corresponding web app.

Outcome:
We grew the user base by 40% over the following 8 months after the redesigned app launched.
